Tara Harland Viney is an Australian artist living in rural England. Harland Viney studied at Bath Spa University and the University of Tasmania, graduating in the UK in 2011.

In their latest collection of work, flowers stand not only for beauty and colour, but as a representation of the passing of time, a vanitas symbolising the transience of life. The elaborate arrangements are composed to fill the frame and have the blooms at various stages of their cycle. Set against a dark background which draws upon the Dutch tradition, it not only highlights the details but serves as an element of darkness and the void

The figurative paintings draw upon the classical poses of Renaissance art, having escaped the clutches of the male protagonist, the women are creating their own stories. The singular human figure suggests an internal psychological space, free from interlopers, and in communion with elemental forces.
