Glass, Jewellery Art

I began my glass journey about 20 years ago when I took a lampworking class at The Glass Hub in Bath and fell in love with lampworking straight away. Lampworking is a type of glasswork where a torch is primarily used to melt the glass. The glass comes in rod form and many different colours. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing, stretching, and shaping many layers with tools and hand movements on a steel rod to form a bead. Once finished with my design, the beads are slowly cooled is a digitally controlled kiln known as annealing. Annealing of glass is an important process of slowly cooling hot glass after they have been formed, to relieve internal stresses introduced during making of the bead. These one-of-a-kind glass beads are then used in making my jewellery.  I mainly use sterling silver findings in my jewellery but also gold vermeil and different coloured copper wire and findings.   I will also make European style big hole beads, Christmas ornaments and other home decorations.
