"Art from Portia" was born out of a passion for creativity, self-expression and freedom. Working mainly with acrylics and oil paints, I love to experiment with different materials and continue to learn.
We are surrounded by constant sources of inspiration. Growing up in the English countryside - Oxfordshire, Yorkshire and the Lake District - nature has always grounded me and now influences my art. My relationships, emotions and personal experiences — especially my journey with epilepsy — also inspire my creativity.
As soon as I am inspired, I tend to sketch my concept and eventually process it into a painting. This may take time as the image and feeling I want to portray takes form in my mind. I sometimes stare at the canvas for days as the image forms!
My goal is to keep nurturing my love for painting while continuing to grow and refine my skills. If my art brings joy or inspiration to others along the way, then what an incredible bonus!
