Ceramics

In the past 2 years I have been rediscovering my passion for ceramics, working with hand build techniques which allow me to create very different lines of work. I make some pieces with slabs like the rectangular plates which provide a blank canvas to work with engobes and pencils. My favourite technique is coils, which gives me more freedom to explore organic shapes. In many cases I start with a basic sketch which changes as I progress along the process, adding layers and discovering indentations and masses which appear in the clay. The final shape is very often different from the original idea.

In most cases I use glazes and oxides which I think work with the pieces to have the feel of a natural object.
