Simon has had a lifelong passion for woodwork. At 15, he bought a lathe and since then has developed and honed his woodworking skills from designing and making furniture to creating decorative, practical and tactile objects.
For the last few years, Simon has combined his love of woodwork with over 20 years of teaching experience to exhibit and sell his turned work and share his passion through providing woodturning experience sessions.
He has a love of nature and places emphasis on drawing out the natural beauty and feel of the materials he works with. He uses reclaimed wood and fallen trees, sometimes incorporating scrap metal and stone into his work.
He makes all his pieces at either his workshop at home in Westbury-on-Trym or a larger workshop at Westbury Wildlife Park.
