I trained in ceramics at Loughborough University and then taught Pottery, Photography and Art in Bristol for many years. Having escaped from teaching a few years ago I now love working in my garden studio producing a range of ceramics including domestic ware, decorative pieces and jewellery. My popular domestic items include, mugs, plates and bowls of various sizes from tiny delicate miniatures up to large fruit bowls, serving platters and dishes. I use a simple range of glazes including Fiord Blue, Grey Granite, Oatmeal Speckled and Turquoise Stone which are all food safe and dishwasher proof. For me a big part of the enjoyment is the process of making each piece by hand, each items is individual and no two items are identical. A major part of my work also includes alternative firing techniques including Raku, Pit firing, Smoke Firings and a unique process I developed when I was at University, using a combination of different alternative firing techniques. Much of my original work using this technique was sold through ‘Liberty of London “one off department” back in the early 80’s
